Whitfield investigators believe they have identified their burned body

DALTON, Georgia (WDEF) – Whitfield County investigators believe they know the identify of the body found partially burned in the woods last week by a 13 year old boy.

But they won’t release the name, yet.

The body was found at the end of Ellis Road last Tuesday.

Investigators described the victim as a male in his mid-twenties.

Now investigators believe the victim is the same from a missing persons report in another state.

Sheriff Scott Chitwood says they linked the two by physical similarities.

But it could still be several weeks before a DNA sample can confirm it.
