Wife charged with fatal shooting of her husband in Northeast Alabama

WOODVILLE, Ala. (AP) – Authorities in Jackson County say a woman has been charged in the slaying of her husband.

Multiple media outlets report 48-year-old Tammy Michelle Keel is charged with murder in the death of 53-year-old Ricky John Keel.

Deputies responded to the couple’s home Wednesday afternoon. Jackson County Sheriff Chuck Phillips says deputies found Ricky Keel dead of a gunshot wound.

Investigators say Tammy Keel shot and killed her husband during a domestic dispute. Phillips says Tammy Keel then tried to burn Ricky Keel’s body, which was located outside when deputies found him.

Tammy Keel was arrested. It isn’t immediately clear if she has an attorney

The investigation is ongoing.
