Wildfire prompts mandatory evacuation for Tennessee area

SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – A wildfire in East Tennessee has authorities mandating evacuations in the area. The Sevier County Emergency Management Agency says the evacuation is the Hatcher Mountain area of Wears Valley and the resorts of Shagbark and Little Valley.

Officials recommended people in other areas evacuate as well.

The station reported authorities say the brush fire sparked Wednesday morning and drew responses from multiple agencies as it burned two structures and a vehicle.

Officials say warm temperatures, low humidity and strong winds have increased the risk of fire danger.

No injuries have been reported.
