Northwest Georgia under wildfire warning

WALKER COUNTY, Ga. (WDEF) – The National Weather Service has issued a wildfire warning for northwest Georgia.

They say there is a high fire danger in the area Tuesday afternoon because of low relative humidity.

To avoid starting a fire, properly dispose of cigarettes, don’t leave a fire unattended and be careful of dragging chains that could cause sparks along the road.

There have been several wild and brush fires in Dade and Walker Counties in the last few days.

Georgia Forestry now says 285 acres were burned in the wildfire on Lookout Mountain over the weekend.

That fire is now fully contained.

If the weather cooperates, crews plan to do some burnout operations in the fire zone on Tuesday as well.
