Wings Over North Georgia returns as drive-in air show

ROME, Georgia (WDEF) – Wings Over North Georgia returns this fall with a Drive-In Air Show in October.

The headlining acts will be the U.S. Navy Blue Angels and the U.S. Air Force ACC A-10 Thunderbolt II Demonstration Team.

The air show returns to the Russell Regional Airport in Rome, GA on Oct. 30-31.

Last year, they developed the drive-in concept to deal with Covid restrictions.

And they will keep it up this year.

Your ticket gets you a 10×20 foot space for a vehicle and another 10×20 space for room to tailgate with friends and family.

This year they are adding a “hill-top” patio area for parties of six with a table, chairs and umbrella.

“We held our first event in 2012 and have always listened to feedback from the guests attending our air shows. Each year, we have incorporated improvements and enhancements to continue to offer one of the top air show experiences in the U.S.,” said JLC AirShow Management President John Cowman.

Additional acts: the U.S. Army SOCOM Black Daggers, U.S. Air Force C-17 Globemaster II, Scott Farnsworth Aerosports Racing Team, Michael Goulian, Mike Wiskus, Greg Koontz, Scott “Scooter” Yoak in the P-51 Mustang, and Jerry “Jive” Kirby in the T-28 Mad Dog. Preshow demonstrations will begin at 10 a.m. each day with the performances for the main show beginning at noon.
