Wires down and power outages following Sunday thunderstorms

HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) – Strong thunderstorms rolled in Sunday evening, causing flash floods, lightning strikes, and wires down throughout parts of Hamilton County.

According to many 911 calls, wires are reported to be down in these locations:

12131 Armstrong Road
2106 Ooltewah/Ringgold Road
8937 Snowhill Road
600 Courtney Lane
9831 Birchwood Pike

There were reports of 20 homes in The Canyons subdivision that were struck by lightning with their electrical meters burned.

There are no reports of house fires.

There are power outages in the area as of early Monday morning. EPB is working diligently to restore power to their customers.
