Woman arrested for false fire alarm at Blue Cross Blue Shield in September
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — The Chattanooga Fire Department announced that 34 year old Nicole Coleman was arrested today after an investigation into the September 22, 2016 incident at the Blue Cross Blue Shield headquarters on Cameron Circle.
According to the lead fire investigator on the case, Coleman activated a fire alarm pull station in the headquarters which forced the evacuation of several thousand employees.
Chattanooga Fire officials say Coleman was charged at Chattanooga’s fire administration building with reckless endangerment and making a false report.
Blue Cross Blue Shield told the fire investigator that the false alarm cost the company about $251,000 in lost work and injury claims filed as a result of the evacuation.
