Woman Charged With Child Neglect After Blood Test of Her Baby

Chattanooga (WDEF) – Police have charged a Chattanooga woman with neglect after drug tests came back positive on her newborn.

The case started from a call to the Child Abuse hotline.

20 year old Sydney Dunn gave birth to a boy on June 28th.

Investigators say she tested positive for Benzodiazepines.

And another drug test found five types of opiates in the blood of the child, including Codeine and Morphine.

Investigators allege that the mother’s drug use during pregnancy placed her baby in danger.

She faces charges of child abuse/neglect or Endangerment.
