Woman rescued from burning home on N. Winer Drive

Chattanooga, Tenn. (WDEF) – Fire crews worked quickly early Saturday morning to help rescue a woman from a house fire near Dallas Bay.

Dallas Bay Volunteer Fire Chief Markus Fritts, who lives on the same street as the victim,  rescued the 69-year-old woman from the blaze after seeing  heavy black smoke coming from the home.

The woman was trapped in her bedroom, surrounded by smoke and flames.

Crews were able to put out the fire, but damages to the home are estimated to be nearly $20,000.

The woman, who’s name has not been released, was rushed to a local hospital in critical condition.
