Woodmore Elementary School Receives Large Grant

CHATTANOOGA, TN (WDEF) – Christmas came early for students at Woodmore Elementary School.

They received a $10,000 grant from the Front Porch Alliance.

School leaders say they will use the money to buy Nooks for each English-Language Arts Class in grades 3rd through 5th.

They will also purchase a reading program, and buy blazers for students who were inducted into the National Elementary Honor Society.

Cheri Guerdon, Principal at Woodmore Elementary School, says, "If we didn’t have the funds, it’s just another layer of support. So this adds to our ability to reach more students throughout the school year. It’s just another layer of resources."

Students will wear their special blazers every Thursday, beginning in December, to represent the their role in the National Elementary Honor Society.
