Work Finally Gets Underway to Re-Float Casey’s Barge
CHATTANOOGA, TN (WDEF-TV) – Critics of the eyesore known as Casey’s Barge should be happy to hear a work crew is on the scene.
They’re trying to raise it off the bottom of the Tennessee River.
The bankruptcy court’s funding the repairs to re-float the barge.
That’s to prepare it for a trip to Mobile Bay, Alabama.
The barge has been a source of controversy since Chattanooga developer Allan Casey brought it here in 2009.
The goal was to turn it into a floating restaurant.
Casey declared bankruptcy last year.
Crews replaced the pumps Thursday and worked to raise the barge after it sank two weeks ago.
