Worker injured by runaway truck that hits Police vehicle

HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF/News Release) – A worker from a tree service business got struck by a truck that somehow started moving.

At about 2:40 pm, Hamilton County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to 8000 Woodstone Drive for the report of a pedestrian struck.

Upon arrival, it was discovered workers from a local tree service business were grinding a tree stump at 8016 Woodstone Drive.

Upon completion of the work, the workers loaded a stump grinder onto a trailer attached to 1999 white Ford F-150.

The F150 was parked on the roadway facing down hill.

While loading the grinder, the truck came out of gear for an unknown reason and started traveling down the roadway.

After realizing the truck was starting to move, a worker for the company attempted to enter truck and stop it from crashing and was injured during the attempt.

As the truck continued down the hill, it struck a Chattanooga Police car which was parked on the roadway and unoccupied.

The truck pushed the police car down the hill into the yard at 8012 Woodstone Drive where it came to rest after being pushed into the front porch of the residence.

The residence and both vehicles sustained damage due to this collision.

The injured worker was taken to a local hospital with injuries.
