Year-long multi-county drug investigation and warrant round-up nets 29 arrests

GRUNDY COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) – A year-long muti-county drug investigation ends with nearly 30 people behind bars.

Officials say around 40 Law Enforcement officers spread out all across Grundy County and parts of Marion County on Tuesday, August 8 to arrest 29 people. They were arrested in connection with drug related charges or failing to appear in court.

Those arrested were part of an undercover operations that were conducted in Marion and Grundy Counties by the 12th Judicial District Drug Task Force, the Grundy County Sheriff’s Department, the Tracy City Police Department and the Marion County Sheriff’s Department Narcotics Unit over the past year.  Additionally the Grundy County Sheriff’s Office served a number of failure to appear warrants from circuit court.

Assisting in the arrests were the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, the Monteagle Police Department.

Grundy County Sheriff Clint Shrum explained, “Operations of this caliber are absolutely necessary to ensure the safety of our citizens and community. The working relationships we have developed within our own county, as well as surrounding counties, bolster our ability to deter crime and apprehend offenders”.

Marion County Sheriff Ronnie “Bo” Burnett stated that the Marion County Sheriff’s Department is committed to working with its law enforcement partners to conduct long term drug investigations that target those people in our communities who choose to distribute dangerous drugs.
