The CFD said the academy will also show citizens how the fire department works and the services they offer.

The goal is to educate the community on emergency response.

Citizens will be able to wear firefighter gear, go through life-like emergency response training and conduct vehicle extraction. They will also learn about hose operations, aerial apparatus operations and Search and Rescue capabilities.

The CFD said that medical personnel will also teach the class CPR.

“This is an opportunity for the members of our community to ‘walk in the boots’ of a Chattanooga Firefighter and it’s a great way to learn more about the day-to-day operations of your local fire department!” the fire department said.

You can register here. The deadline is Monday, April 17.
