Man convicted of nearly killing woman in Dalton stabbing case
The victim has since recovered
DALTON, Georgia (WDEF) – A jury convicted a Dalton man in a knife attack in 2021.
29 year old Shaquae Divine Robinson was found guilty of Aggravated Assault with Intent to Murder, Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, and Use of a Knife During Commission of a Felony.
He was charged with stabbing Tracy Almaraz-Martinez in the neck in July of 2021.
She had let him sleep at her home for a couple of days, but then got into a fight.
The woman was hospitalized in critical condition, but fully recovered after emergency surgery.
Video showed a man running from the scene and Robinson was picked up a short time later wearing the same clothes.
Prosecutors say DNA from blood on his clothes matched the victim.
Robinson has a history of 3 felonies and two misdemeanor convictions for battery and family violence.
He was on probation at the time for making threats against a Dalton Police Officer.
He will be sentenced in January.
