Two Signal Mountain Middle School students suspended & charged for threats
Signal Mountain, TN (WDEF) – Signal Mountain Police say two Signal Mountain Middle School students have been suspended for the rest of the year for making threats.
Chief Mike Williams posted on their Facebook page that School Resource Officer Heath Gunter told him about the situation.
One student was suspended for the day and not allowed back on school property without a parent the next day.
School officials meet with the student and his parents.
During that meeting, another student was implicated.
School officials also meet with that student and his parents.
Both students have been suspended for the rest of the year, and charged in Juvenile Court.
The chief says other students were interviewed as well, but not action was taken since they had no ties to the actual threat.
Since then, there have been no more threats or problems at the school.
Officials say the students never had any weapons, but more officers are at the school to help students, parents and faculty feel safe.
