Chattanooga PD investigating fatal shooting

Chattanooga Police are investigating a shooting that happened earlier this afternoon on Pinelawn Avenue.

Police responded almost immediately to the scene around 1 p.m. and found a male, who’s identity has not been released, dead from an apparent gunshot wound.

Police were able to speak with several neighbors of the victim and were given a description of a possible get-away vehicle

The vehicle is described as a dark, possibly brown, late-modeled Buick with dark tinted windows, with multiple suspects occupying the vehicle.

News 12’s Jamal Williams was able to speak with several witnesses that said the victim knew the suspects, and allowed them entry into his home.

Police are reporting that Michael Hines, 41, was the victim of the fatal shooting that occurred at the 5600 block of Pinelawn Avenue earlier this afternoon.

The victim’s mother said that two men approached her in her front yard asking for her son.

While one of the suspects stayed with Hines’ mother, the other went into the home to look for Hines.

The suspect is reported to have demanded money from Hines, and after an altercation shot him in his garage.

Chattanooga Violent Crimes Investigators are currently following all actionable leads.
