Friends and Family Remember Carly Ellis

Friends of Carly Ellis remember her as a gracious and caring person.

“So kind and loving and her smile just lit up the room”, said family friend Kimberly Ellis.

They say they were in shock when they heard the news.

“I thought it was somebody else named Carly Ellis. I didn’t think that it was somebody that I knew,” said high school friend Ryan Deprimo.

Police said 22-year-old UTC student Aaron Randall “negligently” discharged a firearm.

The bullet went through the wall striking Ellis.

Family members told News 12, Ellis and Randal had been dating for a few weeks.

Ellis had previously attended UTC in the spring of 2015, but was currently working multiple jobs to help pay for school.

“Carly was a hard worker, like her mom…and she did have two separate jobs”, said Jones.

Ellis worked at Bar Louie at Hamilton Place Mall and RAW Dance Bar and Grill downtown.

Jones said Ellis was raised by her mother Scherre Ellis and the two were inseparable.

“Her mom was just absolutely the best mom …they were like sisters almost.”

Jones knew Carly almost all of her life.

“She was so special you just can’t tell the type of person she really is and do it justice.”

Jones’ son and Carly went to elementary were friends growing up.

Jones started a Go Fund Me page to help Carly’s family out with any of the funeral expenses.

“It’s worse than anything I could ever imagine having to go through. It’ll be hard knowing that Carly’s not in this world anymore. There will never be anyone else like her.”
