13-year-old critically injured in accidental shooting

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — Chattanooga Police responded to a call of a person shot around 3 pm Sunday afternoon.

It happened in the 2600 block of East 21 Street.

Chattanooga Police say a 13-year-old boy was suffering from gunshot wound to the head when officers arrived on scene.

He was transported to the hospital where officials say he is listed in critical, but stable condition.

Investigators say evidence indicates the shooting was an accident.

According to police, a 16-year-old male witnessed the incident and called for help.
