Julio Jones finding fit with Tennessee
NASHVILLE (WDEF) — One plus one equals two — and two is always better than one, especially when you’re talking about pro-bowl receivers — which is exactly what the Titans now have. Julio Jones making his field debut in Nashville today. Cue the quaking of defensive coordinators.
The Falcons all-time leading receiver doesn’t immediately come in as the Titans number 1 receiver — given AJ Brown’s success. Jones says he’s not worried about targets or stats — he just wants to help the team win.
Jones missed seven games — including the last four — in 2020 due to a strained left hamstring. However, he told Titans fans not to worry. He feels fast and strong.
“I didn’t take enough time to heal up properly, but that was my decision to go out there and just playing,” Jones said. “There’s no excuse for things like that. I’ll be ready to go. For those who are questioning my health and things like that, just stay tuned.”
For the Atlanta fans who have tuned out so far, Jones says the trade deal was a mutual agreement between him and the Falcons. He also added that his trade request had nothing to do with the firing of former head coach Dan Quinn.
“I just want to thank Atlanta,” Jones said. “It was home for me for the last decade. The fanbase, the Atlanta Falcons, the whole organization. Without them, they gave me the opportunity to showcase my ability and what I can do and actually love the game.”
