Shooting in Lafayette leads to SWAT Standoff
Lafayette, GA (WDEF) A domestic shooting leads to a SWAT standoff overnight in Walker County.
Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a home off Cordell Avenue in Lafayette around dark. That’s where authorities say 56-year old Roxanne Hurley shot 49-year old Troy Hawkins in the leg.
Hurley refused to come out of the home, prompting authorities to bring SWAT in to negotiate. Six hours into the stand-off, residents reported hearing SWAT move in.
Sheriff Steve Wilson says officers took Hurley into custody peacefully around 2:00am. She faces a charge of aggravated assault.
Emergency crews took Hawkins to the hospital for treatment.
