$1,500 reward offered for information about Cleveland vandals
CLEVELAND, Tennessee(WDEF) – The Cleveland Police Department is now offering a reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction of the people who took part in what can only be described as mass vandalism this past weekend.
If anyone has credible information on the multiple suspects wanted in connection to an act of mass vandalism throughout North Cleveland this past weekend, that information could turn into cash.
“The Cleveland Police Department is offering a $1000 and from what I understand, the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office is offering an extra $500 for any information that lead to the identification of who these people responsible for the vandalism,” said Cleveland Police Sgt. Evie West.
As of Wednesday morning, Investigators confirmed they are working 50 cases of reported vandalism believed to have been committed by the same suspects.
Vandals used rocks and bricks to break car windows and damage homes. Police are now hoping the reward money will eventually lead to an arrest and conviction.
“We have had some tips about people who have heard the damage being done like the windows shattering. We also had a tip of a vehicle in an area so we’re following that lead as well,” West said.
As for the act of vandalism itself, police believe this case will go on record as one of the largest vandalism cases in recent years due to number of neighborhoods that were targeted and the amount of damage.
“As far as vandalism goes, I feel like this is probably the most damage that has been sustained by some individuals.”
Police are estimating the damages to be more than $15,000.
