18 wheelers crash, burn in North Georgia

UPDATE: The Georgia Highway Patrol reports that the driver who was seriously injured in the crash is Jacob L. Coffelt, driving for Classic Express Inc. in Cleveland.

He was flown to a burn unit in Nashville.


COHUTTA, Georgia (WDEF) – Police in Cohutta say two 18 wheelers collided on Cleveland Highway just after midnight.

One driver was seriously injured, and flown by helicopter to a specialist in Nashville.

One truck cab was completely burned in the crash.

It happened at the intersection with Wolfe Street in Cohutta.

The cause of the wreck is under investigation.

Cohutta Chief Raymond Grossman says “I ask that you keep the driver of the burned commercial truck in your thoughts and prayers for his recovery.”
