3-2 vote to fire City of Jasper Fire Chief

JASPER, Tenn. (WDEF) – The City of Jasper’s Mayor confirms that the city council voted tonight that the fire chief was voted out last night.

It was a 3-2 vote to fire Chris Rector. Rector has been in the position since 2007.

Earl Jones was appointed in the interim.

This decision was made during a meeting and the Mayor was one of the people opposed to getting rid of Rector.

He says that under Rector’s leadership the city has seen good response times as well as carried a good ISO rating for a department of their size.

The Mayor says that all, but one of the fire firefighters walked out of the meeting together after this vote.
