80 Evacuate Senior Apartment Complex Fire

HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) — Dozens of people had to evacuate a senior apartment complex Thursday night, after a fire broke out.

It happened shortly before 6 p.m. at the Silvertree Senior Apartments on Highway 58 near Chattanooga.

80 residents had to leave the complex, due to a small kitchen fire on the sixth floor.

Firefighters were able to contain the blaze to the kitchen area of apartment #610.

No one was hurt.

Those residents in apartment #610 will stay in another apartment temporarily.

The fire caused about $10,000 in damage.
