9pm update on EPB reported power outages

Chattanooga, TN (WDEF) – A line of strong storms Tuesday evening led to a significant number of power outages throughout the EPB service area.
Officials said the greatest concentration of outages occurred in the North Chattanooga, Red Bank and Mountain Creek areas.
Spokesman John Pless said smart grid automation either prevented or quickly restored 19,768 outages.
Pless added that EPB is working as quickly as possible to restore power.
The company will hold all crews overnight with additional out of town contractors called in to assist.
As of 9:0pm, there are about 300 active incidents with about 2,600 customers remaining to be restored.
He added, because of the severity of damage due to downed trees and power lines in some locations, some customers may remain without service until Wednesday morning.
