Meigs Co. Sheriff’s Office searching for information about ambushed deputy
MEIGS COUNTY — A deputy is recovering after being struck by an object while on routine patrol.
On July 15, 2026, a Meigs County Sheriff’s Deputy was on routine patrol and had contact with a male subject around the Peakland Road/Highway 68 area, according to the Meigs County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO).
The MCSO says upon exiting his vehicle to speak with the subject, the deputy was ambushed by a second subject and struck with an unknown object.
They say this rendered the deputy briefly unconscious and the two subjects ran away.
They say the deputy is now home recovering.
The MCSO is encouraging the public to come forward with any information on this matter.
