He then assaulted 28 year old Tequila Watkins and fired a shot wounding 24 year old Henry Bennett who also was staying inside the house.
Neighbors who declined to show their faces or reveal their identities say this is not shocking to them because this is a way of life for so many in this part of Chattanooga.
"They going to do what they want to do because its about pride and respect ain’t nothing no police no government can do, it’s about pride and respect out here," says Jay an east Chattanooga resident.
Jay added that there could be more crimes like this as people get desperate coming closer to the holiday season.
"People killing, people out there hungry, they got to feed their family they have got to feed their kids, I ain’t saying its right but i’m saying they got to do what they got to do."
Both victims were transported to a nearby hospital and Henry Bennett did not sustain life threatening injuries.
Yusuf Hakeem,City Council District 9 "I think it comes down to this community, police department, elected officials like myself working together, doing what we can of this nature to help in the future."
Hakeem added Chattanoogans need to stick together.
"To families in this community but throughout the city we ask you to be cautious, to be mindful doors are locked and you have access to your phone very closely."
Bennett has previous charges for violation of probation and Tequila Watkins for assault and criminal impersonation.
Chattanooga Police Department continue to investigate and ask any with information to come forward.
