Petition drive for traffic light on Highway 58 after deadly crash

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – The latest traffic fatality on Highway 58 has sparked a drive to get the city to put up a traffic light at the intersection where it happened.

Last Saturday, 64 year old school teacher Karen Saxton was killed when a vehicle crashed into the driver side of her car.

That’s as she was turning on to Highway 58 from Congress Lane.

Employees of Linda’s Produce have taken to Facebook to gain support for an effort to get a traffic signal at that intersection.

They say there have been dozens of accidents and several fatalities there.

Sherry Payne from Linda’s Produce told us “The more we get signed I guess on a petition that would be better for something to happen. It needs to happen. I know we got a lot of red lights on 58, but we need one more.”

They’ve put their case on the city’s 311 site to ask for input from the public.

You can find the petition on her Facebook page.
