Mocs Football Adds Three Star Running Back Recruit Tre Young
(gomocs.com) During his Signing Day press conference on Feb. 6, University of Tennessee at Chattanooga football coach Rusty Wright said that he and his new staff still had some work to do on the recruiting trail.
Despite hauling in a talented class in a short time after being hired in the off-season, he knew there was even more talented student-athletes wanting to come to the Scenic City.
His inaugural class got a little bigger with the addition of running back Tre Young (6-0, 190) today. Young is a three-star prospect according to 247sports.com and a two-time all-state running back from Riverwood High School in Atlanta, Ga.
Young played for head coach Robert Edwards and helped lead Riverwood to eight wins for the first time since 2001 and just its fourth appearance in the state playoffs in school history. Young earned the Hoskyn Award as a senior, amassing over 700 receiving yards. As a junior he ran for 1,107 yards and 10 touchdowns.
“Tre is an athlete and is someone Coach Pizzo and those guys can use on offense in a lot of different spots,” explained Wright. “He could possibly line up at running back for us, line up at receiver for us, at inside slot receiver.
“He’s a multi-talented young man that does a lot of things well. He catches the football, runs well after the catch, you can hand the ball off to him. He’ll be a real impact for us on offense.”
Young is the sixth member of the Mocs 19-man signing class with at least a two-star rating. He is also the seventh with an all-state honor on his resume and the 11th with an academic accolade.
