HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) — A man was arrested in Birchwood after attempting to break into a woman’s car, according to Hamilton County Police. Bradley Kilgore is charged with assault and attempted carjacking.

The 40-year-old suspect walked in front of a moving car Thursday night on Dolly Pond Road. Officers say Kilgore attempted to open the driver-side door, but it was locked. The windows were rolled up as well.

Since he could not get in, Kilgore started hitting the window, police said.

The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office said the victim’s son called to report the incident. Deputies then arrived shortly before 8 p.m.

The female victim was stopped in a church parking lot, police said. In addition, they saw Kilgore running from the church parking lot.

HCSO said they pursued Kilgore on foot. They say he then got into a red sedan and leaned into the passenger area.

At this time, deputies said they took the suspect into custody.

After searching the sedan, police said they found a revolver in the glove box.

Officers said they took Kilgore to the Hamilton County Jail.
