Memory Flags Displayed in Ringgold for Memorial Day

The City of Ringgold is displaying flags along the streets to honor fallen service members.

It first started in the early 19-70s with only five flags.

Over the years, it’s grown to include dozens of them throughout the city.

Kelly Bomar, Vice Mayor of Ringgold said, “The Flag and their cross will be put up forever as long as the program continues. The flags..I don’t know how long they will last you know get pass their life thanks to donations of people in the community and things like that.. All donations it’s all volunteers but it’s all local folks names on these crosses.”

More than a hundred volunteers put up the flags.

They will remain throughout the city for two weeks.

According to Kelly this year more than two thousand flags are displayed throughout Ringgold.

A Taps ceremony is scheduled for Tonight at 7 p.m. at City Hall.
