The police department said they arrested 62-year-old Terry Charles after he turned himself in. His charges relate to the abuse and abandonment of animals.

Charles turned himself into the Whitfield County Jail Friday morning.

“Dalton officers identified Terry as the suspect within a few days but were unable to locate him due to his moving from his last known address,” the police department said.

They ended up interviewing Charles on Thursday and afterwards put out warrants for his arrest.

He faces three counts of abandonment and one count of cruelty to animals. The police department also said these charges are all misdemeanors.

Dalton Police state that if he posts bond, Charles must surrender “all animals in his care to a shelter or other responsible parties within 48 hours.”

DALTON, Ga. (WDEF) — The Humane Society of Northwest Georgia is asking for the public’s help in identifying a man who aggressively threw some kittens out of the back of a pickup truck.

The Humane Society first shared the video on Monday via Facebook. The video shows the man tossing one cat onto the asphalt parking lot.

But the organization added he threw a total of three “tiny” kittens out. The animals are okay, according to the group. They stated “all three are doing great.”

Additionally, the Humane Society added, “They must have two different mothers due to the age of the kittens, so he may have two unaltered females that could have more babies.”

The group urges the public to contact the Dalton Police Department if they have any information that could identify the man. You can reach them at 706-278-9085.

The case number is 23-003560.
