Dalton’s Pops in Burr Park is back

DALTON Ga. (WDEF) – The 4th of July means fireworks and cookouts, but in Dalton Georgia it means a little more.

Amanda Brown, the Executive Director for the Creative Arts Guild said “We have a great evening of festivities. It starts at 6:30, we have kids craft and activities available and then the orchestra starts at 8:30 we have all kinds of things within that program and they are going to play until about 10 o’clock…and then we end the evening with a bang with fire works to the 1812 overture.”

Fireworks aren’t the only thing that bring people out to the park for 3 years in a row.

According to Brown, “This is our third annual Pops in Burr Park, we have a 37 piece chamber orchestra with 7 vocalists and our pre-professional dancers. All of our musicians are professionals tonight.”

Since Chattanooga’s Pops in the Park was canceled, Dalton Ga. was welcoming of new visitors.

“One of our motivations for starting the concert series which Pop’s is a part of, is to bring visitors in from out of town, and to come and visit Dalton and enjoy all that we do and as well as obviously for our community to have wonderful free concerts every Friday night throughout the summer,” said Brown

Brown considers this a gift for everyone involved. She said, “We are trying to give a gift to our community but it ends up being a gift for us as well.”
