Chattanooga Among Five Proposed Tech Hubs Across State
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF)- A group of area businesses and startup ventures will be receiving outside help.
LaunchTN announced they are endorsing five tech hub proposals across the state through the United States Economic Development Administration’s Regional Technology and Innovation Hub Program.
These programs are designed to encourage the growth of the state’s tech sector.
One of the five hubs is centered around Chattanooga, with several businesses and firms making up the group.
Officials say the focus on our hub will be expanding quantum networking.
The following companies will be a part of this program:
- City of Chattanooga
- Tennessee Valley Authority
- CoLab
- EPB
- Chattanooga Chamber of Commerce
- University of Tennessee Chattanooga
- Oak Ridge National Laboratory
- Qubitekk
- Brickyard Ventures
- IonQ
- Southeast Tennessee Development District
- Urban League of Chattanooga
- IBEW Local 175
Ellis Smith, the director of special projects for the city of Chattanooga, said, “It really is a race. We look at it as a digital Manhattan project, there is no prize for second place, and Chattanooga can play a leading role in a nationally and internationally competitive asset.”
LaunchTN will give each of the tech hubs including Chattanooga’s various resources and support services in the attempt to gain access to the EDA’s program.
