Walker County hosts annual motorcycle and car show

WALKER COUNTY, Ga. (WDEF) – Walker County hosted its annual motorcycle and car show on Labor Day.

The Civic Center was a great place to see some sweet rides and raise money for Stocking Full of Love.

“We have our annual Labor Day car, truck and motorcycle show here,” said Walker County Sheriff Steve Wilson. “This is our largest fundraiser every year for the Al Millard Memorial stocking full of love and all that money goes back into Walker County at Christmas time for needy children.”

Stocking full of love has served more than 700 families in Walker County since 1990.

Visitors came from near and far for this year’s car show.

“It takes a lot of money, about $40,000 to $50,000 a year to supply the stocking full of love. We found out this is a good event for people to come to. All around Middle Tennessee, the Atlanta area and Huntsville, people come here to the show,” said Sheriff Wilson.

The Walker County Sheriff’s Office hopes to make a big difference in the community.

Their goal is to make sure every child has a present to open on Christmas morning.

From one holiday to another, neighbors helping neighbors has become a wonderful Walker County tradition.

“This helps so many people that we might never meet in person. All of Children may need toys and presents that their families and the parents can’t afford. Sheriff Wilson and Sergeant Coker do a great job with the stocking full of love. This makes a humongous difference in the lives of many people,” said Georgia House Representative Mike Cameron.
