NSA Gate Crashing

Fort Meade, MD (CBS) A firefight broke out NSA headquarters Monday when a vehicle tried to ram the gates. 

One person is dead and another critically injured after officers opened fire on a vehicle…. that crashed into a gate at NSA headquarters.

CBS News has learned the suspects had been on an all-night bender involving drugs and alcohol when they took a wrong turn into the NSA security gate at Fort Meade in Maryland.

The driver then rammed their Ford Escape into a police vehicle after guards tried to stop them.

One NSA police officer with a bandaged arm was seen being loaded into an ambulance.

CBS News has confirmed the two suspects were men, dressed as women. A small amount of cocaine was also found in the SUV.

Law enforcement sources have identified one of the suspects as 20-year-old Kevin Fleming from Baltimore.

Fleming has a criminal record including assault charges.

Officials still don’t know why these two men were dressed as women or why they tried to ram the gate.

However, they say there is no evidence of terrorism.

The FBI has taken the lead in the investigation and is working with military and civilian law enforcement agencies.

The FBI says it is working with the U.S. attorney’s office in Maryland to determine whether federal charges will be filed.
