Chattanoogans visit library from 9 to 5 for Dolly’s birthday
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — Community members gathered at the Chattanooga Public Library on Friday to celebrate Dolly Parton’s birthday.
Dolly Parton turned 78 on Friday, January 19.
Community members were reading 9 to 5 and acknowledging all the great work Parton has done.
The library released a new video that parodies the original “9 to 5” song. A video of Chattanooga Library and Signal Centers staff singing the song is now available on their social media pages.
Kids can still be a part of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.
The program is dedicated to inspiring a love of reading by gifting books free to kids from birth to age five.
“So, they can pick up a bookmark like this at any of our library locations. And they can just read and write down the number of minutes that they read during the day today. And they can turn their bookmarks in, and they can be entered in for prizes,” said Lee Hope, employee of the Chattanooga Public Library. “We’re giving away prizes for kids of all ages, from zero to 110.”
Event organizers are encouraging those who come by to dress in their favorite Dolly costume, participate in the programs and watch a Dolly movie at the library auditorium.
The event lasts from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, January 19.
