ArtCreations to close doors after five decades

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – An art store that has been on the Chattanooga Northshore for 50 years is closing its doors.

ArtCreations on Frazier Avenue announced today that several factors are forcing them to shut down.

Inflation and competition from online retail are two factors.

However, the fatal crash, which occurred on Frazier Avenue in November that killed a Florida mother and her baby, impacted the building that ArtCreations is in.

The fallout from the incident according to the store’s owner, Jessica Dimitru, has been devastating.

She said, “The first three few weeks immediately following the accident, sales went down 70 percent, and that is year to date dating back three years, and we feel that is a pretty stable number, and then since then they have come back some, but nothing like they should be, we are still down almost 30 percent year to date.”

The store will be holding a series of closeout sales until it permanently closes around March 15.
