Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee previews State of the State

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WDEF) — Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee will deliver his sixth State of the State address tonight at 7 p.m.

Gov. Lee says he wants to fortify Tennessee’s future.

He will be covering several discussion topics tonight. Those include advancing rural opportunity, economic prosperity, educational choices and protecting Tennessee music.

He says Tennessee has ranked as the fastest growing economy of all 50 U.S. states. Gov. Lee says Tennessee is also the number one state for fiscal stability.

Additionally, Lee adds that the state is one of the best for business and is the second lowest taxed per capita.

According to the governor, Tennessee has the lowest debt of all U.S. states.

“Since our founding, we’ve been a standard bearer for the rest of the nation, showing what it means to lead with heart and soul. Today, we continue to be a beacon, for opportunity, security, and freedom for all people,” said Gov. Lee in his preview video for the address.

Gov. Lee also says he will focus on expanding school choice in Tennessee to include easier access to private schools.

Furthermore, the governor plans to discuss his proposed legislation to protect the state’s musical heritage and artists.

“Tennessee is the music capital of the world, and we intend to keep it that way,” Gov. Lee explained.
