Juvenile tells Collegedale officers fabricated assault story
COLLEGEDALE, Tenn. (WDEF) — The Collegedale Police Department says they have arrested a juvenile who falsely reported being assaulted.
The police department received the report on Monday, February 19. They were told the assault happened on the Collegedale Greenway at around 11 a.m.
Collegedale officers said they then interviewed the juvenile victim. The boy told police that he was jogging when two males wearing ski masks assaulted him with a knife. He said the assault caused lacerations to his arm.
He also told police that he broke free and ran from the attackers.
However, Collegedale police said after their investigation, they determined the story to be false. No assault had taken place, according to officers.
They then interviewed the juvenile again, who admitted to fabricating the story.
It is unclear why the juvenile made up the story, but officers charged him with filing a false report.
Authorities will not release the identity of the boy or any additional information due to him being a juvenile.
