4 Chattanooga organizations receive Dollar General Literacy grants

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — Four non-profit organizations in Chattanooga are receiving grants from the Dollar General Literacy Foundation (DGLF).

The foundation awarded nearly $2 million in grants to Tennessee organizations, with more than $13,000 going to Chattanooga.

The Chattanooga locations receiving grants are:

  • Girls Inc. of Chattanooga – $2,500
  • La Paz de Dios, Inc. – $6,000
  • Mary Walker Historical and Educational Foundation – $2,000
  • Net Resource Foundation – $3,000

The donations are meant to support literacy programs in the states that Dollar General operates in.

“Funding may be used to purchase new technology, books, materials, or software to enhance literacy programs,” stated the DGLF.

The DGLF announced the recipients of these awards on Thursday.
