Hamilton County hosts 2024 Back to School Bash

HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) — Hamilton County Schools hosted a Back to School Bash on the Riverwalk August 2, 2024.

Parents and children from all across the county came out to the Riverwalk to get ready for the start of the school year.

More than fifty community partners participated in the event offering things like free books, career opportunities, safety information, and even home internet options.

This event also introduced the new Hamilton County Schools Book Bus.

Starting this fall, the bus will be making stops at different schools throughout the year delivering books to students.

Hamilton County Schools superintendent Justin Robertson was in attendance, and was ready to help students be ready for their first day of school.

“We serve over 3,000 families in Hamilton County Schools, making sure they are first day of school ready.  So we’ve got a great day here and looking forward to starting the school year on Wednesday,” said Robertson.

They were also giving away free school supplies at the bash to prepare kids for the first day of school.

Students got to take home backpacks, rulers, glue, and much more.

Hamilton County Schools chief academic officer Blake Freeman was also in attendance.  He said he loves watching local businesses and nonprofits bring the community together.

“This is just one of the ways Hamilton County Schools is completely connected and partnering with our community, we know it takes parents at home, local businesses, local non-profits to be able to pull together supporting our students. We’re grateful to all of our sponsors and glad people came out,” said Freeman.
