Chattanooga FC Foundation soon adds new fields at Montague Park

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF)- The Chattanooga Football Club Foundation is finally breaking ground to transform Montague Park.

“This starts a really big process of reimagining this whole space. We hope that Montague park will end up being a signature park for Chattanooga, and really create a interesting dynamic on this side of the city that brings in all kinds of green activity,” said Krue Brock, Director of Chattanooga FC Foundation.

The Chattanooga Football Club Foundation has been working on the vision for Montague park for more than 5 years.

The first phase will focus on a brand new turf field.

Brock considers this project a way to impact youth and the community.

“Gathering people in a safe space to play has really significant impacts,” said Brock. “As far as building team, giving a sense of belonging, developing kind of your sense of who you are and where you where you live.”

According to the Chattanooga Football club Foundation the new field will be used for various on-field activities.

“We are focused on soccer, and we do a lot of programming around soccer, but really, the rugby team plays here. The men’s and women’s team are working on youth programs as well. Ultimate Frisbee has a lot of stuff here. The YMCA does volleyball tournaments here, any anything people want to gather and play, this is wide open,” said Brock.

By adding a new field, The Chattanooga Football Club Foundation hopes it will serve as a public and fun space for everyone to enjoy.

Brock says he is excited for the park plan to  come to fruition.

“If my heart’s right here, it’s over flowing with joy, where I am calling tonight kind of a Jubilee, because it really is,” Brock said. “It touches my heart in profound ways. But, it overflows with joy. That is how I can describe it.”
