Construction company makes statement on trench collapse incident

CLEVELAND, Tenn. (WDEF) —  The construction company has made a statement after the fatal incident involving a construction worker being buried in a trench Thursday, August 22, 2024.

The statement from Dillards Construction, Inc. reads:

“We are completely devastated by what occurred yesterday to one of our employees. We are fully committed to cooperating with the agencies that are investigating this tragedy. Our deepest thoughts and heartfelt prayers are with his family, friends and coworkers during this incredibly difficult time.”

The victim in this incident was buried in a trench yesterday.

When first responders arrived, they began working to rescue the victim.

It was later determined the victim was deceased, and a recovery operation began.

First responders recovered the body that evening.

This incident is currently under investigation.
