IMAX Theater welcomes hundreds of filmmakers to Chattanooga
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF)- Chattanooga’s IMAX Theater hosted this year Giant-Screen Cinema Association Conference.
“It is our largest event, and we bring delegates from all over the United States and many foreign countries, and it is an opportunity for those who have giant screens to come learn about industry trends, best practices, and also industry fields,” said Jim Remar, Chairman of the GSCA,
The Scenic City has welcomed hundreds of filmmakers to the IMAX for more than 3 years.
As a part of this conference filmmakers and producers received insight on technology and an early look at upcoming movies.
Remar says Chattanooga’s IMAX theater is a great experience for everyone.
“Today’s world, when people are streaming in their homes, we want to talk to the individuals about the experience, and so it is important for us as delegates to know about the best practices, marketing as well, as some new films that are out there, we can educate the public and get them excited about our theaters,” said Remar.
Chattanooga’s IMAX theater began showcasing various films since the 90s.
Corey Cobb, Director of IMAX Operation explains what makes the IMAX a special theater in Chattanooga.
“We still, at this time, have one of the best state of the art projection technologies. We have a dual IMAX 14 laser, and our screen is 89 feet wide by 67 feet tall. We are the largest screen in Chattanooga,” said Cobb.
And with New Techonology at the IMAX, Cobb is excited to the see the theater continue to grow.
“Following COVID, we started doing a lot more Hollywood content, and so we grew that audience with the Hollywood content as well. But you know, the IMAX experience is just, incredible. To see a film in IMAX far surpasses a lot of things you will see in a multiplex.” Cobb concluded.
