Cartersville man sentenced to 20 years for child exploitation

Court

CARTERSVILLE, Ga. (WDEF) —  A Cartersville man has been sentenced to 20 years in federal prison for child exploitation charges.

Ian Alicea Prewett has been charged for alluring children to perform sexual acts to produce child pornography.

According to U.S. Attorney Buchanan, between 2020 and 2022, Prewett uploaded sexually explicit images of minors to Instagram.

Prewett attempted to cover his identity, however federal agents were able to identify him.

A search warrant was obtained for Prewett’s residence in May of 2023.

During the search, agents discovered a cell phone with the accounts Prewett used to post child pornography.

Prewett was already awaiting trial in Cobb County at the time of the search warrant for statutory rape, child molestation, and child enticement.

He asked a 14-year-old girl to send him sexually explicit pictures of herself on Instagram, and then engaging in sex acts with her.

This wasn’t the first time Prewett has committed such acts.

Before his arrest in 2023, Prewett used social media to allure children to create sexually explicit material and engage in sex acts.

One victim was under the age of 8, living in the United Kingdom.

Prewett asked her to send pictures and videos of herself performing sex acts.

He also did this to a minor in Mobile, Alabama.

Prewett would later travel to Mobile and engage in sex acts with her.

Prewett pled guilty to these charged April 24, 2024.
