CHI Memorial Hospital Relocates: What’s Next for the Fort Oglethorpe Campus?

Developments are underway as CHI Memorial announces plans to build a new hospital in Ringgold, moving from its current location in Fort Oglethorpe. The Fort Oglethorpe site may soon become affordable senior housing.

Community leaders held a meeting to discuss potential designs for the development, which will include shopping, restaurants, and more.

“I’m extremely excited about this project. The way they pulled it together is exactly how I envisioned the property would look,” said District 3 Commissioner Vantia Hullander.

Over 47 students from the University of Georgia have come together to formulate a comprehensive plan for senior living. Their research aims to address the growing demand for affordable housing options for seniors in the region.

“This is probably the biggest project they will ever work on in their lifetime, and it’s going to be right here in Catoosa County, more specifically Fort Oglethorpe. What it will do is provide housing for seniors who need it the most. So, it’s not going to be low-income housing; it’s going to be housing targeted for fixed incomes,” said Chuck Harris, Catoosa County Commissioner.
