TVA holds meeting to discuss future plans

The T-V-A has begun their open comment process on a draft plan for the future.

The draft of the 20-25 Integrated Resources Plan is the topic of discussion for T-V-A’s Regional Energy Resource Council.

The plan highlights how T-V-A wants to invest their resources over the next few decades to meet increasing demand.

They also say they’re taking into account the recent challenges of Hurricane Helene on their system, knowing they will have to respond to future weather disasters as well.

“I think those types of weather related, climate related events are things we are considering within this IRP. We certainly understand there are some climate related moves happening. That affects how our energy demand shows up in the future. That affects how the resources we put in place to meet that demand can be responsive, and so we want to consider those effects, both from this type of event and others that we have seen in the past,” said Clifton Lowry, Director of Resource Planning and Strategy at TVA.

They will be holding public meetings in Rossville and Chattanooga in November to further discuss this plan.
