Georgia kicks off early voting on Tuesday
WALKER COUNTY, Ga (WDEF)- Folks in Walker County came together Tuesday as early voting kicked off in Georgia.
“I want everybody to vote. I am trying to get people that do not normally vote to come out and vote, because it is important,” said State Representative, Mike Cameron. “This is our country and this is our future, and we need to make sure that everybody gets the chance to voice their opinion, whatever their opinion is.”
Georgia residents made their way to the polls to cast their ballots for the 2024 Presidential Election, between Vice President Kamala Harris and Former President Donald Trump.
According to State Representative Cameron, More than 200 people in Walker County showed up early and made their vote count.
“This election is going to be a very close election, just from the political spectrum. But the thing is, everybody needs to come out and vote and voice their opinion on who they think the best candidates are. And if you do not vote, you really do not have a voice in it. So come on out and vote,’ said Cameron.
Georgia early voting will last for 16 days however times for each location may vary.
Pat Garrett says getting out to vote is important to democracy.
“It is Important for our freedom, and we have this freedom, we need to take advantage of it. And if we want to keep having this freedom, we need to be sure we go out and vote,’ Garrett said.
Jim Garrett believes this upcoming election is critical.
“This is the most critical election we hve ever had. I am 80 years old, and I have never been in anything like this before, so we really need everybody out voting correctly,” said Garrett.
Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger says more than 150,000 people have already voted.
Connor Parks, who is a first time voter, considers it an honor to cast his vote for the future of our country.
“The Civic future of America is something that I really deeply care about. Because, this is going to be affecting me for effectively the rest of my life, as long as I am a Georgia resident and I am so proud to be able to finally go out and apply as to who I want to be leading my county, my state and my country, for the rest of the time here,” Parks said.
